Q: Could you share how your renovation project began and how Generations was involved?
A: “I actually sort of inherited Generations—I ended up buying this house, and Generations had been employed by the previous owner to do a pretty extensive renovation of the house before it went on sale.”
Jen’s project began with uncertainty and a supply-chain crisis, which left her with a major repair and questions about who could solve it.
Q: How did you assess Generations and their workmanship before trusting them with your home?
A: “I am in property management, I work with a lot of contractors on the island, and did not know Generations at all… I talked to them, I interviewed them, and I decided they had done a fantastic job: roofing, renovations, painting.”
Seeing a range of successfully finished work made Jen comfortable choosing Generations for this complex job.
Q: Your project had some unique challenges. What stood out about Generations as the work progressed?
A: “This window was actually a very complicated job—the flashing had failed… too close to the roof line… caused rot in the wall… it was one of those projects that was just kind of a mess from every direction.”
With repeated supply chain delays and technical setbacks, Jen recalls: “Generations’ communication with me was outstanding; honestly, the best I’ve ever worked with any kind of subcontractor. They kept me in the know every step—what was getting delayed, could we get the window, could we not get the window, how might we change plans, how could we change the design.”
Jen says adaptability, problem-solving, and clear communication are traits she now expects from a top-tier contractor.
Q: Did Generations meet your expectations for professionalism and timely delivery?
A: “Generations had this very tight window to work in… their crew came in within a matter of days, completely replaced the window, pulled out debris, repainted walls, reinsulated, redrywalled, dealt with all the rot and the mess… when their crew pulled out a couple of hours before my next rental showed up, there was no sign that they were here—no debris, no insulation, no leftover nails. It was an incredibly professional job.”
Efficiency and thoroughness, even under rental season pressure, remain Jen’s gold standard for contractor professionalism.
Q: How did Generations’ crew shape your overall impression of the project?
A: “I was on site during the insulation… spent a couple of days with those guys and they were fantastic. They actually ended up helping me with a couple of other issues and projects with their own suggestions… Generations’ communication is outstanding; they were so professional and so patient, even though they weren’t getting paid for all of that communication. The quality of their work was fantastic. The crew was very respectful and, as a woman in property management, that isn’t always the case—and those guys were great, tidy, kind.”
Respectful, neat, and solution-oriented, Generations’ team impressed Jen as both contractors and people.
Q: Would you work with Generations again and recommend them to others?
A: “I’ve kind of adopted Generations, if I’m allowed to say that… the vast majority of my work, I’m giving over to Generations because I completely trust them that much and we’ve now been through multiple jobs and they’ve never steered me wrong. I couldn’t speak more highly of a contractor.”
Jen’s repeat business and trust reveal the lasting difference made by a company that goes above and beyond.
